Our driving mission

Tilting the Lens works with disabled people, civil society, the public and civil service, and the private sector to move beyond compliance and transform systems through a lens of accessibility.

We work with leading global brands like Chanel, Ford Foundation, Pinterest, AIB, British Vogue, and Parsons School of Design.

In every room, we always ask  “is this accessible?”, and then create bespoke solutions. Our work chips away at the systemic barriers that exist, but it takes time, commitment, accountability and resources. We want to create the conditions, organisational cultures, and behaviours to make industries more accessible and fair.

Our foundational pillars

We support organisations to drive accessibility and inclusion from short-term needs to system change. We do this through our three foundational pillars.

Pillar 1: Education

Education appears in our strategy through deliberate engagements in schools and academic settings, but also through our trainings, webinars and public engagements.

We believe that “we don’t know what we don’t know”, and the need for disability and accessibility education is continuous and evolving. We encourage our partners, clients and suppliers to approach their work with the same curiosity, creativity and vulnerability.

Pillar 2: Advocacy

We engage in public activities like media appearances, lectures, speaking events, mentoring, and campaigning to advocate for systemic change.

Additionally, we use our own communication channels to elevate the voices of disabled people, through webinars, open-sourcing of tools and research, and commissioning creatives and writers.

Pillar 3: Design

We describe design as both a tangible process – the design of a product or building – but also the design of a programme, a strategy, or a mindset.

We believe that solutions must be designed with disabled people, not for disabled people. We believe in the principles and innovation opportunity of universal design to create a more equitable world for everyone.
